Motor Flashes
Gossip from the Clubs
Following his successful debut with an Indian
motor-cycle at Braybrook, Alan Bruce created a
new record at Maribyrnong at the week-end.
The A.J.S. Club held a hill-climb on the Mari-
byrnong hill, and Alan and his Indian were put
back on scratch. He made fastest time of the
day, and created a new electrically-timed record
for the hill.
DUTTON'S TRIAL
For the third year in succession Gordon
Dutton (Indian) has gathered in the premier
award in the Geelong A.J.S. Trial. This year,
however, he was compelled to share it with
that other consistent Indian performer, Sid
Thomas. A remark at the Pivot sheds some
light on Dntton's winning habit. As Gordon
started off a spectator remarked, "There goes
the winner." "This year or last?" asked an-
other. "Both—and the one before. It's developing
into a Dutton Trial," replied the first.
INDIAN CLUB NOTES
An important general meeting of the Indian
Club will be held on Wednesday, August 8,
The Boomerang Cafe, Queen street, Mel-
bourne. The business will be to appoint a
returning officer and two scrutineers, and to
complete preparations for the annual election
of office-bearers.
CHAMPION OLD BUFFER
The Indian Club's annual "Old Buffers"
championship for Mr W. Morgan's trophy was
decided at Lockwood on Sunday. A series of
competitions carrying points for major places
were ran, and at the end of the day Bob Driver
had scored the highest number. He therefore
becomes champion Old Boffer for the year.
On Sunday, August 5, the Indian Club will
hold a touring run to Cockatoo, Outfits will
leave Alexandra avenue at 9.30 a.m.

RALEIGH CLUB NEWS .
At the A.J.S. hill-climb run at Maribyrnong
on Sunday, R. Pratt (Raleigh) gailned fasted
time of the day in the 350 class. The Sec-
retary ot the Raleigh Club (P. Meggs) met with
a bad accident, and now is in Ward 3 at the
Alfred hospital.
Messrs. Disney's have just received advice
from the New Imperial Motors, who state the
riders S. H. Jones and S. Gleaves gained re-
plicas in the Junior T.T. race. The positions
of these riders were 11th and 19th respectively.
These two New Imperial machines, which were
practically standard as supplied to the public,
were among the 21 to finish, and the success
gained was meritorious.

NORTONS SUCCEED
At the Speedway meeting at Broken Hill last
Saturday evening, Reg. West, riding an O.H.V.
Standard Norton, won two special match races,
and put up the fastest time for the meeting.
Bob Medwell, riding a camshaft Norton, also
won the scratch race (silver gauntlet).

XMAS TOUR
Any mem her or affiliated member of the Hsrley
Club who would like to go for a tour at
Christmas, is asked to spply to Mr Oaroett, as
a special meeting will be called shortly to make
arrangements. The proposed tour Is—Wangsratta,
Canberra, lit Kosciusko, and Olpptland
Lakes.
COSMOPOLITAN CLUB
A re-organised Cosmopolitan Club was set up
only six weeks back and, with the well-organised
branches, which this young motor cycle club
has been steadily formng up, has now to its
credit the following:—Box Bill, Malvern, Coventry,
Geelong, Mornington, British Excelsior,
Dirt Track Riders, Cosmopolitan and Douglas,
as branches, with six more of the well-established
metropolitan clubs wishing to link up as
affiliated bodies, giving a fighting force of 15
clubs, and still not content, their organiser, Bob
Kynaston, says quite confidently that he will
be responsible for forming a branch of this
club in every metropolitan district where con-
ditions favoring clubs exist. He will be giving
full time to the Cosmopolitan Club this season
and says 1000 members is his first objective.
SUNDAY SPORTS
Under the auspices of the Cosmopolitan Motor
Cycle Club, a track meeting will be held on
Sunday at the club's dirt track at Clayton. A
calico sign will be placed on Dandenong road
at Clayton to show the visitors the direction
of the course, which can be reached in 200
yards from store at Clayton. A fine exhibition
of dirt track broadsiding and skidding corners
will be demonstrated by the Victorian Dirt
Track Riders' Associaton, who will make their
first appearance in Melbourne.
AUSTRALIAN "SCRAMBLE."
Arrangements are now being held to conduct
the annual Australian motor cycle "scramble
on Cup Day. Organised last year by Bob Kynas-
ton, the event proved to be the first and big-
gest cross-country motor cycle event ever held
in tbe Commonwealth. He proposes to give the
winner £20 with the C.O.R. cup, £10 for the
runner-up with the Wakefield cup, and £5/5/
for third with the Barnet Glass cup, with valu-
able trophies for the next three to finish. The
successful team will be awarded the Dunlop
shield.
NORTHCOTE ACTIVE
Tbe Northcote M.C.C. held a very successful
dance last Saturday, 150 being present.
A paper chase will be held next Sunday,
leaving the club rooms at 10 o'clock. In the
afternoon a football match will be played against
the Preston M.C.C. at Wattle Glen.
The smoke social on Saturday, August 4, pro-
mises to be a great success, and members are
again reminded to hand their names in to tbe
secretary no later than next Sunday.
