The suggestion In last week's
Sporting Globe, to the effect that
timekeepers should be appointed' by
the Licague in the future, aroused
keen controversy during the week.
One delegate has fntlmated that he
will urge the League to adopt the
proposal.
As pointed out last week, no reflection
was Intended, upon the timekeepers,
some of wbom have given
ilfe-Iong service to (heir clubs. Independent
appointment would mean,
however, that the accusations of partiality
in close finishes would be obviated.
