FITZROY COLLAPSE
Bowler's Day at South
Requiring 194 runs with nine wickets
n hand, Fltzroy started poorly, losing the
first two wickets without a run being
scored. Norton was the bowler.
He bowled McCarthy with the only
ball he bowled last Saturday, and had
A. Lansdown caught at leg off his first
delivery today.
Bunton and H. Lansdown set out to
etrieve the position by careful cricket.
hey survived the opening attack of
Morton and Davidson, but Fitzmeurice
eparated the batsmen when he had Bunon
caught behind. It was his firstwicket
or the season.
FIVE WICKETS FOB 50
Bunton had shown sound defence for
8 minutes without reaching the fence.
When Chapman fell to the R. Hassettocking
combination, and H. Lansdown
was caught by Wootton off Morton, five
wickets were down for 50 after 80 mintes'
batting.
Morton had taken three wickets for
3 runs.
Llddicut and Plant increased the rate
f scoring, chiefly at the expense of R.
assett Plant earned applause by drivng
him straight for six, and then beame
top scorer by cutting him for four.
Plant's innings ended when he snicked
ball from Davidson to the 'keeper. He
ad betted for 32 minutes, and had hit
ne six and two fours.
Fitzroy's position was serious.
At tea, the score was 6—99.
It was a great finish. A dogged parteiship
by Liddicut and Perkins gave
itzroy a sporting chance. But the
coring so far was too slow for victory.
