MUCH-TRAVELLED CUP

The Bsllarat Rov ing Club hse just received
from Colac tbe Eight-oar Maiden
Challenge Cup, £ feature trophy o! the
annuel regatta that has been the subject
of competition for 15 years. It is a coniition
of the gift that it shall be won
three times before absolute, possession is
obtained, and three clubs have reached;
file "all-but" stage, requiring one more
win to hold the cup for all time. The
three are Colac, Ballarat and Footscray.
Tbe first ynoneK in 1912 were the Bichijloiid
eight, and last season Ballarat
gained their second win. Tile cup, which
has travelled a bit—each club is entitled
to possession during the season in which
it succeeds—«nd this is its 19th trip from
Colac. Shields are attached to the cup
indicating each year's winners. In 1913
j. S. Suffren -WBB in the Ballarat winning
crew, and last season his son Jack
one of the winning crew.
