Premier's
Message
The Premier <Sir Stanley Argylel.
in acknowledging an invitation to
attend the charity carnival to be
held on the M.C.C. ground nexl
Thursday, has sent to Mr W. S.
Sharland (chairman of the organising
committee) the following message:—
"It is a Dleasing phase of our
national life that, while the great
sport-loving community of our
country revels in the facilities
afforded for open-air entertainment,
the organisers of sport
and the public which supports it
are ever ready to help deserving
causes by contributing to funds
for that purpose.
''The annual Veterans' Football
Charity Carnival, in aid of
St. Vincent's and the Children's
hospitals, is an instance of this
warm - heartedness.
Will
you
please convey to the executive of
the carnival my best wishes for
the success of this vear's function
?
"Those
who contribute to such
deserving institutions, while
enjoying
the winter pastime,
will
have the happy
knowledge
that
they are doing something
commendable
in helping to
provide
funds for the hospitals,
which,
in
order
to
keep
pace
with
modern
methods
of
treatment,
require much money to carry on
the great work of the alleviation
of the ailing."
