SEYMOUR REGATTA.
The annual Seymour rogattn was held on isa-
turday afternoon on the Gotilbutii River, tlie
eotute being near the old township, and about
one mile in length. Owing to icccnt rains, there
was a strong fresh in the river/ against which
the crews had to pull. Excellent entries hucl
been received, hut some of the crews failed to
put in an appearance. There was, however, suffi
cient competition to provide several intere.-ting
races. Previously the rcgattn had been held on
a holiday, and some doubt existed 'as- lo whether
the takings at the regatta reserve would be satis
factory. The attendance of spectators was not as
numerous as usual, and it is probable thai a
change will be made in the date for next re
gatta. University won" the Senior Pair, Mercantile
