The funeral of a very old and widely
known resident of Brunswick took place
yesterday, when the remains of the late
Mr. Thomas Clarke were interred in the
Coburg Cemetery. Mr. Clarke, who was
82 years of age, was born in England, and
came to Australia 58 years ago. He settled
in Brunswick in 1854, and he afterwards
became a member of the Brunswick coun-
cil, in which he sat for a number of years.
Subsequently Mr. Clarke became valuer
and rate collector to the same municipality.
He was instrumental in founding, and for
many years was secretary to, the Loyal
Albion lodge of the Manchester Unity of
Oddfellows.
The will of John Baxter, late of Lloyd-
street, Geelong West, timber merchant,
who died on 'Jt.h August last, has been
lodged for probate. Testator, by a will
dated 27th Alay, 1909, left estate, of "the
value of £10,630 really, and £13,320 per
sonalty to his widow and cliiklren.
Among the passengers by the steamer
Eastern, which arrived a t Townsville yester

golden wedding on Saturday last and were

were married fifty yeais ago, add among
those present at the function was Mrs.
M'Gregor, who was bridesmaid at the -wed

many useful presents on the occasion.
