In a hectic finish, Essendon — after early superiority
— just lasted Ion genough to defeat Fitxroy
by six points before 22,000 at Brunswick Street
Oval. Tiring rapidly, they could easily hare lost
but Fitzroy missed many chances in front of goal
in the closing stages.
