Hiatus Ready To Win
His First Hurdle
By "RAPIER"
ALTHOUGH he isn't an easy horse to train, because he's a bad
doer in the stable, Hiatus has turned on two very sound performances
over hurdles, and I should say that he's ready to
win at his next start
for one thing, Hiatus appears to be a stayer and there's nothing
wrong with his jumping. That's why he's being classed
as a Grand, National prospect.
J
maCKIE, who trains Hiatus,
knows what's required to win an
important Jumping race. He was
successful wM*i HlgtWjay Kliig in the
Grand National Steeplechase last
yeai.
Highway King lias not pleased his
trainer this time up. The gelding
did not break down but Madkie
thought. It wise to have both tendons
fired. Highway King is to be given
a long spell.

consequence both horses have .been
on the easy list. *
Zealley has a very promising

Although Lynmouth . failed at
Moonee Valley on Saturday, it should
not be long before she returns to tlie'
winning list. Last week she did
better than Chief Pilot and Rulemaker
over seven furlongs in 1.31 Vi
(20 feet out).
Gyrone, a gelding by Glldeaway,
trained by W. Boss, showed dash
for a jumper by taldng five furlong
honors (1.3%) last week. Next day
lie won a hurdle scliool. at Epsom.
Gyrone gave a fast and dashing display.
