In the first 15 minutes
Prahran and Brunswick
collected only behinds as
the game swung rapidly
from end to end.
Wales missed a goal for
Prahran by inches.
The Brunswick thrust
was checked by Boyd,
who marked beautifully.
Rover Weir snapped his
first goal for Brunswick
and O'Brien replied for
Prahran.
Stanley marked at the
bell and put Brunswick
five points in front.
Brunswick were winning
in the air and using their
weight to advantage
against the lighter, pacy
opposition.
Smartly adapting themselves
to the cross-ground
breeze. Prahran went further
ahead with goals from
Mullenger and Lovett.
Elliott goaled for Prahran
from a free kick,
Colin Boyd and Max
Kruse were doing Stirling
work in the ruck, but their
thrusts were repeatedly
turned by Neilson and
Rolfs on the Brunswick
back line.
Kinnaburgh (.Prahran)
brought down a spectacular
mark and reduced the deficit
to four points.
The contest now was
between Prahran's speed
and Brunswick's stamina.
Prahran stormed the
goal and gained a 15-point
lead.
Prahran forced the ball
to the wining left flank.
Kruse tore through for a
mark and punted a long,
accurate goal.
Brunswick had lost the
initiative and were unable
to stick the hot pace.
Brunswick used their
weight hard and a nasty
brawl held up the game for
two minutes. A bitter offensive
failed to turn Prahran's
lead.
