iriFhton ran away from Northcote in the last
ouarter of the first VFA semi-final before 12,000

atter a tight game for three quarters, Brighton
ran away. Brighton's famous attack, headed

but shot holes in the Northcote defence in

through. Col Williamson sent
the ball over the centre for
Warburton to pick up and goal
from a snap. In an instant, the
ball was back again and Warourton
repeated his effort toi
Brighton's third goal.
Brighton seemed to be breaking
dear, .but their advantage
was short lived as Northcote
surging forward from the
bounce, goaled from Scott.
Brighton lapsed slightly because
Northcote were beating
them to the ball. Mcintosh
brought them into attack again,
but Hose and McAsey battled
desperately to keep them out.
A behind was rushed by Northcote
and they led by a point.
Brighton had 'dropped into
short- game which was
proving costly and they could
not prevent Northcote breaking
through for two goals from Nash
almost on the bell.
Rushing oft from the bounce.
Brighton opened with two goals
(in as many minutes) from
Mclndoe and Douglas. Northcote
steadied as Farrell sent
them across the centre. Duncan
passed to Knight, who marked
almost on the goal square but
kicked badly for a behind.
Brighton sent the ball forward
with long, driving kicks,
and they took the lead when j
