backed, won by two length*, while
Solsgrace defeated Cherle Marie by
a length.
Bookmaker* had visions of
clean-up when the 940/1 chance
Gordon, led the field about 100
yards from the winning post. Ml
tired and finished fourth.
Solsgrace was a 60/1 chanoe.
There was some delay in outlaying
the numbers of the placed
lorse* when the hoist failed to
work. No. 6 (Glamls Star), the
winner, was semaphored, but the
course broadcaster had to ~
nounce the minor places.
The steeplechaser, Anteros, made
the running and strung the field
out to the three furlongs, where
he was caught by Gordon, who led
until within half a furlong of the
post. Then Olamls Star swept up
on the outside to win without any
trouble.
Canada and Chatsol were always
a long way lade, and they finished
down In the running. The others
were outclassed.
