MR. R. OPIE TO MISS A. I. HIERONS.
The marriage of Mr. Reginald Opie, eldest son
of Mr. Thomas B. Opie, of "Avoca," Prahran, and
Miss Ada Ivy Hierons was celebrated at the Mount
Erica Methodist Church by the Rev. W. Crean on
Saturday, 7th December. The church was tastefully
decorated with arches of white poppies, from
which hung wedding-bells. Pot palms were also
used for decorations. Mr. Hudson officiated at the
oigan, and during the signing of the register Mr.
Reginald Goble sang "Love Is Waiting." The bride
was given away by her father, and wore a rich
ivory satin gown, draped with silk lace, edged
with pearl and bugle trimming. The long square
train was finished with a satin bow, daintily arranged
with sprays of orange blossom. A beautiful
shower bouquet oi Xmas and water lilies was
carried. The bridesmaids were Miss Gertie Opie
and Miss Laura Opie, and a small maid. Miss Eva
Williams (cousin of the bride). The elder maids
wore gowns of ivory satin over deep flouncing of
shadow lace, caught up at the side, and held in
place by a large crepe de chine rose. They carried
fragrant posies of La France roses. The small
maid was daintily frocked in white silk, with a
prettily arranged lace fichu. She carried a silver
staff, 6et with a light cluster of roses. Mr. M.
Opie (cousin of the bridegroom) acted as best
man, and Mr. H. E. Thomas was groomsman.
The bride's mother was in a pretty gown of
oyster grey silk, with pointed train, 6et with an
overdress of trimmed silk, edged with ball fringe,
opening over a panel of lace. A hat of grey crepe
de chine, with crown of mandarin velvet and lace,
finished with a mandarin mount, was worn. The
bridegroom's mother was in steel grey silk, and
wore a smart black toque. Wedding tea was held
at St. Mary's Hall, East St. Kilda. Later the
bride and bridegroom left for Sydney and the Blue
Mountains. The bride's travelling dress was a
mustard coloured silk poplin, trimmed with white
crepe, de chine, and a smart hat, grouped with
wheat ears. On their return Mr. and Mrs. Opie
will reside at Malvern.
