THE REV. J. J. CUSACK, P.P.*
NEWPORT. FAREWELLED.
On Monday evening, 14th ult., there
was a crowded assemblage at the
Sacved Heart School Hall, Newport
on the occasion of saying "Au Re-
voir" to their esteemed pastor, Fr
Cusack on the eve of his departure
on a visit to Ireland. A splendid musi-
programme (arranged by Mr. J.
M. O'Brien) was provided. The ar-
lists were;- Mrs. F Rogan, Mrs.
Williams, Misses M. Barlow, A. and
C. Byrne, B. Dorgan, M Lehane, J.
McMahon, and E. Smith, and Messrs
C. Davis, W. Green, E. Lehane, J.M.
O'Brien, and L Warrener. Miss M.
Lehane was at the piano. The follow
ing conveyed the good wishes of the
parishioners to their pastor in felici-
tous terms:—Messrs. R. O'Halloian,
D. Carroll, T. Flanagan, jun., T.
Keane, J. Lehane, and P. McMahon.
Fr. Cusak, in reply, thanked the
speakers and parishioners for their
expressions of goodwill. He also
thanked the artists for their efforts in
making the evening a fine success.
After he had concluded his address,
the audience rose and sang enthusias-
tically "For He's a jolly Good Fellow"
At the-termination of proceedings,
"God Save Ireland" was sung.
Before his departure Fr. Cusack was
the recipient of many valuable and
useful gifts from the school, children,
Children of Mary, and parishioners.
The secretarial duties were carried
out by Mr. .T. M. O'Brien.
