Abbotafard toppled over at the last obstacle.
The latter might bare given IXL some
trouble, though it ia doubtful whether the
reealt would have been altered. The Success
tolt Gash, who was reported to have been
ilighly tried, was at the head of the quotations
in the 'Victoria Handicap, though he was
Closely pressed by Tapioca and Kose Park.
Cash ran prominently for a time, but he failed
to see it out, and Tapioca heading Hose Bark
at the distance the issue was never after
wards in doubt. Young Lewis rode Tapioca.
Mr. Hughes, no doubt bearing in mind
that on three previous occasions the winner of
the Accession Handicap, had also scored in
the Royal Handicap, determined that if
Royal Admiral were to follow in their foot
steps he would have to do so under exceptional
circumstances. He accordingly penalized him
16 lb., but notwithstanding this big jump
Keily and the public were of the opinion that
the horse was equal to annexing the double,
and he went out a better favourite than
Thunderer. This time the increased weight
told its tale, and public form was verified by
the City Handicap hero scoring handsomely
from the outsider Fair Saxon. Thunderers
performance was a meritorious one, as he was
third from last after they had gone a furlong.
The following are the particulars of the run
ning:
