Mr. George Langhton reports :— D«ry Cattle—A.
very short supply, and those only of medium and in
ferior quality. Prices were a little firmer. Isold
useful milkers to £4 10s., and inferior from ZDs.; 'dry
cows from 10s. 6d. for inferior to £2; springers from
£2; and bulls from 20s. to 27s. Fat Cattle—584 in.
Prime oxen, £7 10s. to £8 10s.; good, £5 to £6 10s.;
medium, £3 to £4 10s.; prime cows, £4 10s. to £G.
Calves—270 in. 1 sold 133. The number yarded was
for above requirements, and prices were very low in
deed. I sold best vealers to 31s.; medium from 6S.
6d. to 14s. Gd., and very inferior from Gd. Large
heavy rough, 7s. to 16s.; superior to 47s, Sheep—
11,416 yarded, 2,055 were turned out unsold. Shorn
wethers, prime, 6s. to 6s. 6d.; good, 5s. to 5s. 6d.;
medium, 4s.; prime ewes, 4s. Cd. to 5s.; good, 3a Gd,
to 4s. Lambs—3,732 penned, 147 turned out unsold.
Prime, 6s. to 7s.; good, 6s. to 5s. 6d.; shorn, prime,
4s. Gd. to 6s. 6(1.; good, 3s. 6d. to 4s.; others lower.
Pigs—600 in. I sold 320. Prime bacon met with
keen demand at advanced prices, other descriptions
Were firm at about last week's prices. Quotations;
—Prime light baconers, 31s. to 38s.; heavy, 42s. to
64s. choppers, 48s. to 70s.; prime porkers, 25s. to
28s.; light woights, 17s. 6d. to 23s.; large-framed
stores to 16s. Cd.; medium from 12s.; small from 7s.
9d.; suckers, 5s. to 12s. Poultry—Fowls, lOd. to Is.
Od.; ducks, Is. 4d. to Is. 9d.; and turkeys, 3s. Gd.
