TO THE EDITOR.
Sir—Your remarks rc tho judging in the
blood etook classes as being bad was amply
borne out in judging the baokney olasses on
Friday laBt. If suoh wretched examples are
allowed to go by without oomment the Society
most oertainly puffer, and competitors will not
exhibit unless their just rights are preserved.
For example, take the case of Class 00. Horses
that in Septembor were given the highest
honours, and were singled out for further
special merits woro passed by for some trivial
blemish. But the most serious error of all, to
my judgment and several others who profess
to know something about horses when
keen competition call for unbiaBBed
opinions and dieoussion, was the selec
tion in the next class (91). In this oase
the black pony Beauty, a most perfect model
of horseflesh, in my opinion (and I have heard
was admitted by the Judges themselves), was
entirely passed over on account of her not
herng a trotter, and the award given to ponies
her inferior in every other point. In this case
the Judges overlooked form, aotion, propor
tion, to pane only, la the old country, where" I
have seen and have been interested in horses
all my life, we .always considered action uud
fair paoe far before pace only. It is unneces
sary to say the aooision was received by the
epeotators in silence.
l am, Sir, so.,
ONLOOKER.
Adelaidp, Maroh 2.
