THE PIOUEEES' SOKG.
A wilderness we found tlie land
When we came o'er the sea.
And tlie savage with his feehle band
Eoaraed o'er it hopelessly.
We crossed the foain
To found a home—
A home for the brave and free.
All hardy, active—apt to dare,
As pioneers should do;
We clothed with flocks the pastures fair,
Hhied what the plough would do.
We crossed the foam
To found a home—
A home for Britons true.
As time flew on, in hope and trust
The soii gave corn and wine;
We broke the earth's hard rocky crast.
And downward track'd the mine.
We crossed the foam
I' improve a home—
A home for Freedom's shrine.
The liberty we loved of old
We love and cherish still;
And we'll guard it safe with courage hold.
And with a stedfast will;
For we crossed the foam
To found a home
So foe shall dare to fill.
