in the formation of a cricket club are
invited To attend at the Hordern Hotel, at
8 p.m. tornighl -(Friday). A good roll-np

SOCIAL.—The congregation of the ]
Presbyterian Church have made arrange
ments for a social in the Rechabite Hall,
on the evening of the 24th., the proceeds of}
which will be in aid of the Organ Fund, i

instrument at an early date.
A Correction.—In our report of the'
September meeting of the Wickepin Road
Board appeared a letter in which it stated
that Messrs. Howarth and Green required
a road running through T. Burns' property.
Thjs was incorrect and should have read
along the north boundary of Mr. Bums'
property.
Water Trouble at Highbury.—At
the last meeting of the Narrogin Road
Board, Mr. Barley considered that they
should endeavor to have one of the Go
vernment water-boring plants sent to
Highbury. The matter being treated as
urgent it was decided that the member
for the district (Mr. E. B. Johnston) should
be written to asking his assistance.

WEDDING. — A quiet wedding was
celebrated at the Church of England, by
the Rev, Fred. Davis, on Wednesday
morning last, when Albert Victor
Waddingham and Clara Hardwicke were
united in matrimony, in the presence of a
few friends. Both parties are well and
favorably known locally and our best
wishes are extended to the happy couple.
Wickt.pin Road Board Hall—The
long-deferred erection of this building has
at last been commenced by the contractor
(Mr. T. Retallack), -and should now soon
be an accomplished fact. Ever since the
creation of the Board the need for suitable
office accommodation has been felt, and
provision will be greatly appreciated by
the secretary and members of the Board,
as well as its Press representatives.

Breaches of the Health Acr.-At
the last meeting of the Health Board,
the Inspector, Mr. W. L. Johns, reported
havingheen informed of a most offensive
odour coming from a fish shop in Egerton
street, but not being vested with the
necessary authority he had been unable to
take proceedings against the offending
tradesman. The necessary authority was
at once given by resolution so that in
future the community should not "be
menaced, in this manner as Mr. Johns"
attitude in this respect is well known and
valued.

Methodist Church —On Sunday next,
at the Methodist Church, Narrogin, the j
Rev. Stanley Jarvis will take the morning I
service, and Mr. Hart the evening service.

Conversazione and Dancf.—In order
to fittingly celebrate the success of Mr. E ;
B. Johnston, the Labor candidate, ih
winning the Williams-Nflrrogin seat at the
recent election, the local branch of the
A.L.F. have arranged to hold a grand
conversazione and dance in the Town Hall
on Wednesday evening, October 25th,
when a splendid evening's enjoyment is
promised to all who attend.
Cornwall Coffee Palace.—Visitors
to the show are reminded that the new
coffee palace, erected for Mr. W. Cornwall,
at the corner of Federal and Egerton
streets, will be opened on or about Tuesday
next, October 17. The establishment is
being thoroughly fitted out with modern
appliances and patrons can rely on getting

WicKEPiN Water Scheme.—At the
last meeting of the Wickepln Road Board,
Mr. Butler brought up the matter of hav
ing the water laid on to the main street
from the well, and a stand-pipe erected at
a -convenient place. The suggestion is a
good one, and such a convenience would
no doubt, he thought, be appreciated by
the travelling public as well as local re
sidents. The secretary was instructed to
write for the permission of the Railway
Department to lay the pipes and to obtain
the necessary levels. Several pounds are
in hand from the grant for the well, which
will pe well spent in providing such a con
venience. " j

National Pictures.—Owing to the|
heavy rains on Wednesday night last, only !
a very few attended at the above pictures. I
The majority of the populace were no
doubt busily engaged in combating the
overflowing' drains and gutters, performing
other aquatic feats or shaking hands
with ■ themselves over the improved
prospects. Those however who braved
the elements were rewarded by witnessing
a first-class programme, shown in excellent1
style. Several fine pictures including the
Investiture of the Prince of Wales, The j
Man who learned, The Bride of the Nile,
and Zululand. On Wednesday and;
Thursday next, special show programmes
will be screened. On these occasions the
skating rink will be utilised to endeavor
to cope with the large audience that is
anticipated to be present.

Electric Light.—A special meeting
of the Narrogin Council will be held this
evening for the purpose of discussing the
proposal put before them by the Narrogin
Flour Mill for lighting the town with elec
tricity. The mill have prepared a scheme
and ask for a concession which, if reason
able, and they are prepared to supply the
current at a fair rate, should be a desirable
arrangement. The proper lighting of the
streets would be a boon, so that an agree
ment giving ratepayers a fair deal should
be welcomed. The Town Clerk, accom
panied by Mr. S. Connor, return from
Collie to-day after inspecting the lighting
arrangements at that centre. Similar in
spections have been made of other elec
trically lit towns.
