A HOME BATTERY CHARGER.
ELECTROLYTIC OR NORDON
RECTIFIER.
Last week it was mentioned that it
was possible to construct a battery
charger for use at home, and thus ob-
viate the necessity of paying periodi-
cal visits to a battery charging sta-
tion, besides which the cost of charg-
ing would be considerably reduced.
The following constructional details
have been contributed by a member
of the Wireless Institute (Launceston),
and as he is an experimenter of some
years standing his information is well
worth the attention of those 'amateurs
who wish to reduce their running
costs. It is estimated by the contribu-
tor that if the charger, or to call it by
its proper name, viz. the Electrolytic
or Norton Rectifier, to used in con-
junction with power mains, the cost
of charging an accumulator (car bat-
tery) would be approximately 1s 6d,
while should the lighting mains be
utilised the cost would be practically
the same as that asked by charging
stations, and even then the accom-
panying trouble of carrying a heavy
battery about would be cut out.
