OBITUARY.
Late
Mrs. K. T. Goerling.
In the passing of Mrs. K. T. Goer-
ling, at Pinjarra, on June 15, at the
age of 75 years, another of the State's
pioneer women has crossed the border.
Born in Denmark in the year 1869, the
late Mrs. Goerling came to Australia
in 1887 with her husband, the late
A. E. Goerling. Together, they suf-
fered the adversities of the land boom
in Victoria, and pioneered several
farms in that State, where her six
children were born.
The late Mrs. Goerling helped to
pioneer Marloo station, in the Mur-
chison, and resided there for 33 years,
and in later life helped her husband
to develop the Pinnacles station, at
Lawlers, when her age was 57.
Three of her offspring survive her—
Messrs. H.M. and H.C., and Miss E.K.
—also 10 grandchildren.
During her 57 years of residence in
Australia, she only left her adopted
country twice for short visits.
The ritual at the graveside was con
ducted by the Rev. Dr. Graebner.
HARRY HAMLET KENTON CORNISH
The death occurred at the Narrogin
Hospital on May 20 of Mr. Harry.
Hamlet Kenton Cornish of Wander-
ing. The late Mr Cornish who was
67 years of age, was born at Pinjarra.
His father was one .of .the -first settlers
to penetrate the Murchison district,
and. was injured whilst in -that district,
dying shortly .after his return to Pin
jarra. Mr. Harry Corrush "then as
sumed the responsibility- of his father's
property at Pinjarra, later moving to
the - Coolup district, where he resided
for some years. In 1922 be purchased
a-. property In the Wandering district,
where he remained until -his death.
Although 'the;. deceased had suffered
considerably in the last few' months,
his .death came-. somewhat suddenly
following . an; attack-; of'-pleurisy and
pneumonia. He leaves a widow, two
sons (Messrs. Ken and Owen Cornish
and . one- daughter (Mrs. Taylor) to
mourn* their. loss. The remains' were
laid -to rest in the Anglican portion of
the Wandering cemetery on Monday
representative gathering many rel
tives and friends having travelled from
Pirijarra, Coolup, and Perth to.pay
their, last respects to-a gentleman - who
had earned the highest esteem of all
who knew him
