HILLS TENNIS ASSOCIATION.
CUP PRESENTED BY
MR. GRAVES.
A meeting of delegates was held on J
February 18 at Oakbank,' among other
things, to make arrangements tor the
finals. The following were present:
Messrs. G. H. Jacobs (president),
Keddie, Morcom, Ansell, Hawke, Rol
busch, Beasley, Trigg, and Lewry.
The secretary made reference to the
fact -that Mr." W. Graves, of Mount
Barker, had generously offered a cup
since the last delegates' meeting. On
the clubs being informed and asked
under what conditions they would
prefer the cup to be competed for, all
were in favour of the trophy being
retained by the winning club for one
season, and it having to be won three
times by any one club before becom
ing its property.
On the motion of Mr. Trigg, second
ed by Mr. Ansell, a hearty vote of
thanks was tendered Mr. Graves, and
that this be conveyed to him in a let
ter from the secretary.
Mr. G. H. Jacobs expressed his
thanks to the delegates for electing
him to the position of president, and
wished all the clubs success during
the season.
Mr. Morcom brought forward the
matter of qualification, and moved:
"That owing to only four teams being
in the association this year, a player
having played in one match be con
sidered as having qualified in the semi
finals and finals."" Mr. Ansell second
ed, and after discussion it was car
ried.
The matter of where the finals were
to be played was discussed at length,
and Woodside volunteered to play
Dunn Park at Dunn Park. This was
accepted, and Woodside congratulated
011 their sportsmanlike attitude. On
the motion of Mr. Beasley, seconded
by Mr. Ansell, the Mount Barker
Methodist v. Oakbank match be play
ed at Oakbank.
Other final arrangements were the
same as last year, save that only
six sets be played.
If a challenge match be necessary,
it shall be played at Nairne.
| In regard to the cup night social
and dance, Mr. Morcom moved, sec
onded by Mr. Beasley, that the social
be held at Mount Barker on the last
Wednesday in March. Resolved that
invitations be issued and that other
arrangements be left in the secretary's
hands.
The secretary urged the delegates to
do all in their power to keep their
teams in the association next year.
