BENDIGO CHATTER
MRS JOHN WHITEHEAD, who came from
Tocumwal to spend ten days with
Miss Alice Whitehead, is now staying in
Brighton with her mother, Mrs Munro.
Miss Olive Hannaford, who has been in
Melbourne, returned to "Totnes," Barkly
Place, for Christmas.
Miss Eileen Hains was presented with a
parting gift by members of the Bendigo
Musical Society in view of her approaching
marriage. Miss Hains is one of the
society's most valued members, and she
will continue to take an active part in its
work when meetings resume after the
summer.
Mrs W. B. M. Wood, of the Commercial
Banking Company of Sydney Ltd., and
her three young daughters are staying with
Mr Wood's parents in Glenferrie, and after
New Year will go with Mr Wood for three
weeks' holiday at Long Island, Frankston.
Mrs C. Harvey, of Camberwell. and her
two children are staying with Mr and Mrs
J. Smalley, at "Overton." View Street.
Misses Alison and Dorothy Smalley are
enjoying a stay at the Golf House, Heales
ville.
Mrs Mackay and Miss D. Mackay, Wattle
Street, motored to town for Christmas, and
are spending two months at Black Rock.
Nearly thirty members of the Kenning
ton Red Cross Society met at the home of
Mrs D. Oldfield. Mundy Street, for the last
meeting for the year and to celebrate the
87th birthday of one of the foundation
members, Mrs Hickey. who received a pre
sentation, and many congratulations
verbally, and by letter and telegram. Among
those present was another foundation mem
ber, Mrs Cambridge, senr.. who lately cele
brated her 88th birthday, the president (Mrs
G. W. Lansell), and the honorary secretary
and treasurer (Mrs W. Montgomery), who
also received tokens of esteem and at affec-
tion from the society.
Miss Hyndman (South Yarra) and Miss
Murison Herring (Toorak) spent Christmas
with Ven. Archdeacon Nigel Herring and
Mrs Herring at their home in Wills Street.
Miss Jean Cahill motored to Donald, and
is staying with Mrs W. Sproate.
Miss Maisie McCallum nnd Mr Yuille
McCallum, Bayne Street, have motored to
Sydney for a holiday.
Mrs Robert Jones, who has been staying
with Mrs J. C. Kilfedder has returned to
her home in Toorak.
Miss Miss Peggy Thompson, of Paynesville, is
the guest of Mrs W. A. Walford, at her flat
Waterloo Street.
Mrs W. Masters has returned to Castle
maine after visiting Mrs G. W. Lansell.
Miss Elwyn Masters was the guest of Miss
Betty Longstaff for the Christmas tennis
tournament.
Mr and Mrs J. A. Michelson sailed for
Sydney by the Manunda and are spending
three weeks at Lane Cove with Mr and
Mrs J. F. O'Loughlen.
Miss D. Crawford is staying at Clonnard
Cottage, Stonnington Place, Toorak, with
Miss Edna Tatchell.
Mrs Basil Lewers and her children, who
have been staying with Mr and Mrs R. H.
Heaton, have returned home to St. Arnaud.
Mr and Mrs R. H Heaton and Miss Leila
Heaton are spending the Christmas holidays
at Upper Macedon.
