ALySGES UNFAIR
METHODS BY RABBIT
INSPECTORS
Board s Confidence in
Themf i;
? At this week'^meefing of the Gun
dagai pastures Protectidn Board a
letter was received from the Depart
ment of -Agriculture, stating that a
Gundagal district grazier had lodged
a', complaint against what was termed
as, the unfair,. methods. adopted by the
board's rabbit inspectors. ' ,. r
'MThe complaint ? further went on 1 to
say that, owing to th^ scarcity of wire
netting.;, the properties from Gundagal
to Tumbarumbavwere just . one big
paddock ,
It was fui tlier stated that land
holders -were long, harassed by the
board, and it .was; claimed that there
1 '.were ? '? only v five .instances of land
holders ? not doing their best to sup
press rabbits., and -no action was being
taken against them, but in those cases
where owners and occupiers were do-r
ing. their best. they, were being unduly,
?pressed by the rabbit inspectors.
' The r. complainant , asked the depart
ment -for an independent inspection, so
that justice-, could be done to all own
ers;,, ' !?-. -? ?? ? - '
1 -The -board was, rather indignant al
these accusations., and- Dir. Moore,
stated that ^jf. there . were any unfair
methods adontedibv the rabbit in
spectors,- then- it is not known to tli^
directors' or -the stock inspector, who,
at all times.' is in close touch with the
inspectors
' iThe ^directors decided to inform the
department thtttrtliey .fqlt sure that
both' inspectors- try, to ?. act fairly,., and
that they have every confidence in
th'em; and if the name of any land',
holder who: feels, he . has been unjustly
treated can be given/ his case. would be
tJioroughly investigated
I (The meeting furthei decided to
I point out to 'the department that the
Shortage- of wire netting is common
to' every '-ratepayei in the diotuct, and
vet the majoritv are able to keep their
holdings, free. of rabbltj.
