this spring, and the demand for them lias been un
usually large. Seedsmen are charging 8s. Od. for
white, 8s. for blue, and 7s. 6d. for dun. Cocksfoot
and prairie arc moving off slowly, aand |>ereimial rye
grass and luccrne slower still. Tim latter ought to be
in good demand to the end of September. Mangold
seeds are being freely purchased, as are also ninety
day maize and sorghum. Seed potatoes are going off
slowly. Tobacco Leaf.-No improvement in this
market, nor is there any chance of any until the pre
sent large stocks in manufacturers' hands are reduced.
Manures.-A slight improvement in demand for bone
dust and phospatic guanos."
PRODUCE.
Messrs. LORD and HUGHES report"Since the date
of our last report the tone of the market for bread
stuffs has been decidedly easier. Owing to unusual
heavy arrivals by rail during the past week millers and
dealers have been operating with great caution, and
present appearauces do not encourage any prospect of
an advance on rates now ruling. Wheat.-The arrivals
have been-by rail, 0,295bags; and coastwise, 924
bags. The receipts during the past week are far in
excess oX any week during the past four monthB. and
the market has, in consequence, further declined.
Sales have been made of prune Northern at 5b. 2d. to
58. 3d. at the close of last week, but to-day
6s. 2d. is the highest price obtainable, at which
figure we have quitted some few ]>arcels. Flour.-The
receipts are-By rail, 4,081 bags; coastwise, nil. A
fair amount of business has been done during the
week, confined principally to approved brands of
amnio* flour, which have been sold at £1015s. to
£11, but to-day an easier tone pervades the market,
and some holders have accepted £10 12s. 0d. to £10
15s. Oats.-The receipts are-By rail, 252 bags: and
coastwise, 766 bags ; of the latter 616 bags were from
New Zealand. Owing to the jiaucity of supplies very
little business has been done during the week. At
auction sonic few parcels of Tasinanian were quitted at
4s. lOd. to 5s. for feed, and Victorian at 5s. 2d.
to 6s. 4d. for Tartarian The small lot of
New Zealand milling on hand is held for 5s. Cd.
Barley.-The receipts are, by rail, three bags; coast
wise, 1,017 bags. Of the latter, 245 bags were from
Tasmania, 20 bags from New Zealand, and 1,29S bags
from Sydney. The latter was an importation from
California, containing about 1001b. weight each of
Oregon and Cape barley, which has nut yet bsen
offered for 6ale. Prime chevalier is exceedingly
scarce, and any lots offering would readily command
0s. 6d. to 0s. 9d. Cape and Oregon are in good re
quest at f>s. Od. Maize.-The arrivals have been 8,537
bags from Sydney. Owing to the heavv supply
that has come forward during the week
prices have slightly declined, sales having been
made at 4s. Sd. to 4s. yd., but holders are not
inclined to press sales at these figures, believing that
the market will again recover in the course of a few
days. Peas.-The arrivals have been, by rail, 89 bags,
and coastwise, 102 bags. A brisk demand still con
tinues for grey and dun at 6s., and blue, for seed, at
7s. Cd. Bran and Pollard.-The receipts are, by rail,
4,034 lags. Large 6ales for export have been made
durbig the week of the former at Is. 2d. to Is. 2Jd.,
and for the latter at Is. 5jd. to Is. 6d. Grass Seeds.
There has been no business of importance dona in
agricultural seeds, and in the absence of transactions
quotations arc merely nominal,"
