GUiNEDAII.
LFROI OUR CORRESPONDENT]
SINCE my last we have had a splendid
fall of rain; the river came down a banker
and overflowed its banks in several places.
Grass is in abundance everywhere.
A fire occurred at MIr. Young's house on
Saturday last. Mr. Young is afireman on
one of the Government locomotive engines,
and was at Narrabri on duty, and it appears
that iMrs. Young left home for the purpose
of doing some shopping, leaving some
children in charge of the place, and the
little ones in taking a lighted candle into
the bedroom, set fire to the curtains. The
room was soon in one sheet of flames, and
only for the timely arrival of Porter Sarsen
the place would have been burnt to the
ground; as it was, the room was completely
gutted, and it isa wonder the house escaped;
it being built of wood. Another warning
to mothers who leave their children at home
by themselves while they go shopping and
gossiping !
A meeting of the railway employees was
held in the Courthouse hero on Friday
evening last, at which Mr. Abbott was pre
sent, when some very important matters
were brought under his notice.
