BROKEN HILL MINING.
BROKEN HILL, Wednesday.
At the South Miine the stopos are looking
well, and turning out a good quantity of
ore. Nearly 800 tons were despatched dur
ing the pasct week. The main shaft is being
sunk, and is now down 480ft. The main
shaft on Block G is down 191ft, and the
shaft on Block 7 is down 364ft. Good pro.
groes is being made in the erection of smelt
ing plant, and the same remark will apply to
the new winding plant for Block G. At the
Rising Sun North, respecting which there
has been a good many rumours during the
last day or so, they have run west at the
240ft level for about 30ft, and have met
with a seam of oxidised matter-a sort of
ferruginous clay-which gives promise of a
crossout meeooting with a body oh oxidised ore
at this level. There is a good supply of
water.
