Revolt of Convicts in Mexico.
A TEL~EnRA from Galveston, dated De
comber 8, says :-Dispatches received hero
from Janrez, in Mexico, record some extra
ordinary proceedings there, followed by
sanguinary fighting. A sorins of bull fights
have beeoon taking place in the town of the
most brutal and bloodthirsty kind. The
bulls were of tile fieroast type, and
the human fighters in some cases
only escaped from the encounters with
severe injuries, horses were gored in a
shocking manner, many falling in the arena,
while the bulls were horribly mutilated.
These sickening soones-appear to have fasci
nated the populace of Janrez, who all
flooked to the display, and among them the
soldiery of the garrison were present in largo
numbers. Taking advantage of the weakened
forces, the military convicts at the barracke
made a sudden attack upon the sentries,
shooting down three, and then escaped to the
mountains, taking a plentiful supply of
arms and ammunition with them. The
troops on returning to the barracks were
formed into a pursuing party, and the con
viots were traced to their lair, where they
were surrounded. A sanguinary fight
followed; in which there was much fighting
on both sides; but in the end three of,' the
convicts were shot, and four captured. The
prisoners were shot at sunrise the next day.
