MIATTERS [MUNICIPAL,
The municipal eloection is causing somo
little speculation hero. Messrs. Sinm,
Wakely, and Sucker, the retiring aldermen,
have been nominated for re-election, and Mr.
Thos. Campbell, ox-MaIyor, has been also
presented with a requisition, and nominated.
In addition to these, ex-Aldermxn Brookes
and Messre. W. Scully and E. D. Kobble
white are to contest the vacant soears. If
there are no informal nominations or with
drawals, polling-day promises to be lively.
IBRIDIGEI TO PII(?NIX ARK.
A pubhlic meetiug was called for Tuesday
evening, to urge the Government to build
the bridge to lp'hnix Park so Iong agitated
for; but in consequence of a letter from Mr.
MI'Rao, stating the matter had been referred
to the Minister for Lands, and advising delay,
to allawtthat gentleman time to consider and
reply, the only business done was to read the
letter, and adjourn the meeting. Since then
a communication has come to hand, stating
that Mr. M'Rno lhas applied to the Com.
miseioner for Railways for departmental
statistics bearing on the matter.
