ASSOCIATION.
A ITAJIO GAME!
In the presence of 9,000 spectators, who con
tributed £373 to the funds, the first eenii-flnal,
between l'ort Melbourne and Northcote, was de
cided on the Brunswick ground In Korthcote's
favour, the scoring being 9—11 to 5—S. It was
a stirring struggle all through, a bit too hard
to be classed as scientific, with many thrilling
episodes, punctuated by good kicking and splendid
high marking. The game was really von in one
meteoric burst in the third term,"when North
cote, rising to great heights, kicked five goals
in 10 minutes. It was a winning and brilliant
sequence of success, and settled the issue. On
the day the better and more even side won.
While every man on the winning side -did his
share, special mention should be made of the
splendid manner in which Cockram, McSwain,
Pniser, Ross, Byrne, Stockdalc, Nicholls, Corri
gan, and Garrett performed. Port was well
served by Stauhridge, Garbutt, Hyde, Crompton,
Baker, Smith, Lahiff, and Brooker.
