WEDDINGS.
OXER-SEMMENS.
The heavy rain of the early! morning
ot April & cleared just in time for the wed
ding of Joycej younger daughter of Colonel
and Mrs. J. M. Semmens, Siller Craig,
Hotharn street, East St. Kilda. and Donald
Oxer, of Launceston, Tasmania, younger
son of Professor and Mrs. F. E. Oxer, of
Wvselaskie Hall, Qrmond College, Park
ville. Tlie ceremony took place in tlte Alma
Road Presbyterian Church, and -was per
formed by Professor Oxer, assisted by the
Rev. David Ross. The bride, who was
given away by her father, wore a gown
of white georgette, made with a hip belt
outlined with rhinestones, the Boft, fully
flared skirt dipping unevenly at both sides.
On the front of the bodice and at intervals
on the skirt were appliqued itprays of
leaves in ring velvet, outlined witn crystal
and rhinestones. Her lace veil was
mounted on tulle, and fell over a filmy
train of the tulle, the veil being held in
place by a row of orange blossom at the
back of the bead, finishing in tiny clusters
over the ears. She carried , a bouquet of
white and delicate pink flowers. The
bridesmaids were Miss Kathleen Semmens,
sister of the bride, and Bliss Dorothy Oxer,
who were dressed alike in primrose yellow
georgette, the softly flared skirts falling
to ankle length at one side. The brimB
of their soft yellow felt hats were rolled
back from the face, and. they carried
bouquets of autumn flowers. The church
had wen beautifully decorated with white
and pale yellow flowers to' tone with the
bridesmaids' frocks. The bridegroom was
attended by Mr. Gordon Oxer asiiest man,
and Mr. Len Lorimer as groomsman. Mrs.
Semmehs, the mother of the bride, wore a
gown of black velvet embossed georgette,'
and a black hat. Mrs. Oxer, the mother
of the bridegroom, chose a frock of beige
georgette and lace, worn with a wide
brimmed black hat. After'the ceremony
a reception was held at Siller Craig, where
both the reception-rooms and the tables
in the in'atqueejwhere luncheon was
served, were adorned with masses of
autumn leaves.
SOWDEN-SUTXIK.
The wedding of Margaret, eldest daugh
ter of hire. M. Suttie, of Lindean, Mosmau,
to Sir William Sowden, of Adelaide, took
place on April 2 at the residence
of the bride's sister, Mrs. Victor Raves,
flljiiR Athol, Cl|fton Gardens. The bride
was1 ?Riven Saway. by her brother, Mr. G.
Crawford SuCtfe. She< wore a gown of

wi{& an onyx ornament. A similar orna
ilient jet with pearls caught the draperies
at 'the shoulder. Her hat was of goldeu
fiillej 'And she carried a posy of autumn
tinted flowers tied with golden ribbons. Tlie
Rev. D. P.- Macdonnld -performed the cere
mony. The pride's niece, Miss Phyllis

A gown of fuchsia tulle mounted'on pale
blue, and trimmed -with -pale blue roses. She
carried a basket of mauve, "blue. and fuchsia

Raves, received the guests. Wlieri leaving

den left for South Australia oil Thursday,
and later will go for a tour of the East. «
