DEVELOPMENT AT ATHENS.
Tlie Athens correspondent of the Paris
"Temps" telegraphs that a Royal decree
has been Issued relieving General Doumanis,
chief of the Greek general staff, and his
assistant, Lieut .-Colonel Metaxis, of their
functions.
Both officers are pro-Germans, and the
decision of the Govern :ue:!t has produced
a great impression in G)"eeOt
General Moxhonoulis. who is in sym
pathy with the Allies, has been appointed
to succeed General Doumanis.
The British Minister at Athens (Sir F. E.
H. Elliot) and the S^raQCh Minister (M.
Guillemin) paid a visit Sunday to the
Greek Premier (M. Zatnisl.
M. Zamis afterwards waited on King
Constantine, and Subsequently he again
conferred with the Entente Ministers.
Much perturbation fau been caused by a
declaration made bv tr® Some "newspaper,
the "Idea Nazionale," that Bulgaria will
claim possession of Kavalla, Seres, and
Drama.
A message from Athens states that the
Allies haveasked M. Zamifi, tbe Greek Pre*,
njier. what are . Greece's intentions regard-;
ing tbe Bulgarian advance, explaining that'
there was no necessity for the Allies to
defend' Central Thessaly. as Salonica is in
dependent of land supplies.
