VICTORIAN CHESS CLUB.
The thirteenth halt-yearly meeting ot the Victorian
Chess Club was he'd on the 3rd inst., the chair being
occupied by Mr. R. G. M'Cutcheon. Reference was
made in the report to the loss which the (dub bad
sustained by the death ot Mr. C. J. Lucas, F.LA., its
late president; and statistics were supplied to show
that the club bad continued to increase in numerical
strength. The committee also congratulated the
members on the fact that new and convenient pre
mises had been secured at the Globe Hotel, Swanston
street, at a greatly reduced rent. The report and
balance-sheet having been received and adopted, the
following gentlemen were appointed es the officers
and committee tor the current half-yearPresident
—Dr. W. Maloney, M.L.A. ; vice-presidents—Dr.
Cobb and Messrs. M'Cutcheon, Robinson, end
Witton; hon. secretary, Mr. G. Giiliman ; hon. trea
surer, Mr. F. W. Miscamble; committee, Messrs.
Ashe, Collin, Crewe, Leviuson, Alayston, and
