POSTAL INFORMATIO0'.
The Newcastle Post-office is open from
7 a.m. to S p.m daily (Sunday excepted).
On Sunday from 7 a.m. to 8 am.
There are 12 city iron letter-receivers,
viz.: in Blane, Hnoter and Watt, Hunter,
Hunter and Brown, Blane-street West, Lake.
road, Wolfe and Tyrrell streets, The Terrace
and Bingle streets, Bull and Corlotte streets.
Mary and Melville streets, and opposite
Wood' Brewery.
The city letter-carriers deliver three times
a day.--lst. at 7.30 a.m.; 2nd. at 12 noon,
and 3rd at 4 p.m., the latter only as far as
the A. A. Co's. bridge and upon the Hill.
Mails close half-an-hour previous to de.
iveriee. ,
On holidays there is only one delivery, at
7.30 a.m. On Sundays the office is open
from 7 a.m. to 8 a m. for delivery of letters.
Private boxes are open daily from 7 a.m.
until 11 p.m., and on Sundays from 7 am.
to 12.80 p.m.
There is one delivery in the suburbs daily
(Sundays excepted) at 8.30 a.m.
Mails close for all places beyond Scone on
the GreatNorthern Line, and all places on
the Great North-Western Line on Monday,
'Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
at9.d0 p.m. On Sunday, at 5 30 a.m.
Mails close for all places on Great
Northern Line as far as Werris Creek, daily,
at 5.30 p.m.
Afternoon mails close:-For East Mait
land, West ,Maitland, Hexham, and Mor
peth at 2.30 p.m.; for Wallsend, at 2.30
p.m.; for Singleton, Waratah and Stock
tone, at 4.30 p.m.; for Sydney,
M1onday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday,
and Friday, at 4.30 p.m.; for Sydney, daily,
Sunday excepted, at 9.30 p.m.
Penny postage rates for letters extend
within a 10-mile radius of Newcastle.
Town letters posted in town delivered'
within a radius of ten miles from Newcastle,
not exceeding toz, id; for every additional
joz ld. Country letters, under joz, 2d;
every additional jor 2d. Letters containing
gold transmitted within the colony, no:
exceeding loee, 4d; every additional ouhoe
or part 4d.
Intercolonial letters: New Zealand,
Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania,
Victoria, and West Australia, not exceeding
oro, 2d; every additional jor 2d.
United Kingdom: Via California and
Suez, not exceeding joz, 6d ; every additional
oz 6d, Via Colombo and Brindisi, not ex.
ceeding joz, 6d; every additional joe 6d.
Letters can be register'ed by affixing
stamps to the value of 4d. Letters can be
posted fifteen minutes after the stated time
of closing, on payment of the late fee of'2d.
Money orders may be obtained and made
payable at any Money Order Office in New
South Wales, Victoria, South Australia,
New Zealand, Queeusland, • Tasmania,
Western Australia, Great Britain, India,
Capo of Good Hope, Canada, United States
of America, Germany, China, and Japan.
Information as to rates can be obtained from
any of the offices. Telegraph money orders
may be transmitted from this colony to
Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, and
Queensland, on payment of the usual tele
graphic charge on a message of ten words.
