In a race at Kyneton last week, a win
ner carried 81b. over weight -without de
claring, and still cot the race. The "Kyne
ton Guardian's report of the race
says:-'"In the hack race the rider of
Myall neglected when weighing out to
declare that he was 81b. over Weight.
The stewards . held an inquiry after
the ' race, but exercised the dis
cretion given them bv one of the V.R.C.
rules, which provides for such leniency in
a ease where the occurrence is an accident
and not fraud. It was Myall's first race,
and as the horse was very green and fresh,
a larger saddle was, for the jockey's safety,
substituted for a small one after the horse
had been weighed out."
