Tied to another age
BRISBANE, Friday.
- A Member of
Queensland Parliament,
Mr W. T. D'Arcy (Lab,
Albert) found he had
run out of clean shirts
this morning, so wore a
skivvy to the chamber.
The Speaker, Mr \V. H.
Lonergan, noticed this
immediately and ordered
him out. He told Mr
D'Arcy to return when he
was properly attired.
The Member went to
his nearby boarding-house,
changed and returned to
the Chamber wearing a
yoi'cd deep red shirt and
a say tie.
Mr Lonergan did not
object.
Outside the House Mr
D'Arcy said, "It is high
lime the Victorian-age

Parliament were brought
up to date-'.
