EAMILTON MVUN1ICITAL COUNCIL.
To, usual fortnightly meeting of the Hamil
ton Borough Council was held at the Council
Chambers on Wednesday evening. Presenut:
Aldermen Kean (Chair), Brown, Britten,
Baker, and Manuell. The minutes of the
previous meeting were confirmed.
CoaRsProsnaeoCa.- There was no corres.
pondence for consideration.
ACCOUNTs. - Sundry accounts, amounting to
£32 10d 10d,iwere passed,oand ordered to be
paid.
AumTons' F~Es.--It was resolved that the
sum of one guinea each be paid to the two
auditors for their services.
Ana&lrTows? PRoAD. The condition of a
certain portion of Adamstown Robd was
called attention to. It was resolved that the
Working Foreman be authorised to repair
certain plao2s in which the surface
coating had been washed away by the recent
rains, at a cost not to exceed £5.--It was
resolved that certain repairs be effected to
Steel.street. It was also resolved that legal
opinion be obtained with regard to the action
of the Waratah Company in turning drainage
water into certain lands of the municipality.
RRVENUI AccouNT.-The detailed statoe
ment of revenue and expensee for the half
year ending August 4th, 18790; shewed a
total receipt of £836 4s 9d, and expenditure
(including cash in the Bank of Austrelasia
£164 4s 3d), £830 4s 9d.
BYva LAWs.--In answer to a question, the
Council Clerk stated that Mr. Wallace had
not yet handed in the code of Municipal
Byo-laws. Several aldermen spoke strongly
upon the delay, Alderman Manuell being of
opinion that something defiinite ought to
havo been decided upon long enough ago.
The Council adjaurned.
A weman named Mary Ann Davies wes
oharged before the Bristol mnagistrates with
wmandering about wi'hout being able to give
a satisfactory account of herself. She weas
found to be in possesseion of a certificate for
£2500 in consols, and was wearing eight
skirts, around the inside of which were sewn
thirty purses, and one of the purses con
tained eighteon sovereigns. She said she
was about to be married to a gentleman in
Anstralia, where she was now going.
