DISAGREE ABOUT
LUNCHEON
Milk Board and Council
OVERTURES REJECTED BY
COMMITTEE
The Greater Newcastle Council and
the Chairman of the Milk Board (Mr.
R. H. Nesbitt) disagree about a luncheon.
" Mr. Nesbitt particularly desires the
Health, Milk and Safety Week in New
castle to open with an official luncheon.
The' council's attitude to the luncheon is
indicated by a resolution of the Health
Committee "that no funds of this com
mittee be spent on an official luncheon."
JMr. J. Shields, Milk Board represen
tative; made another appeal to the com
mittee last night, on behalf of Mr. NAes
bitt and the luncheon, but the' com
mittee refused to reverse its previous de
cision. Mr. Shields said that if the com
mittee would agree to a luncheon the
Milk Board would finance the cost in lieu
of making a contribhtion towarrd the
general funds of the Health, Milk, and
Safety Committee.
AId. Travers: They' have a hide to ask
us. I would like to know when their
contribution will be made to the. fund.
The Chief Health Inspector (Mr. J. C.
lMeddows): If we do not open the cam
paign with a luncheon they will, and will
invite us.
Aid. Travers: It is fine to give a lun
chleon to yourself. 'Vhat tlhey are after
is pullicity. I suppose tlie chief drinlk
at the luncheon will be No. I grade milk.
I understand they are grading milk now.
The Chairman (Ald. ,1Vingins): This
does not require much deliberation by
us. We know what we desire.
The request was refused without further
discussion.
