Farewelled at Gosford
Many warm tributes were paid Mr. J.
P. Trim, of Gosford, on Friday night,
vhen a representative gathering of local
citizens met to bid him farewell. Mr.
Trim has sold his interest in the Union
Hotel, Gosford, and is to take control of
the Great Northern Hotel at Newcastle
shortly.
The Chairman, Mr. A. K. Jamieson,
President of the Gosford sub-branch of
the Returned Soldiers' League, said that
the League would miss Mr. Trim. Two to
three months ago the sub-branch had been
compelled through lack of funds to
discontinue relief to returned men passing
through Gosford. He discovered by pure
accident that relief orders were still being
issued, and that no man was being sent
away empty-handed — Mr. Trim was footing
the bill. (Applause.)
Mr. A. S. Steland, President of Gosford
Golf Club, expressed his regret at
the loss of a man of Mr. Trim's calibre.
The club had found him a very generous
supporter.
Mr. Jack Atkins, Gosford Football Club
and Erina Shire Football League, said that
while the club and association greatly
regretted their loss, they wished Mr. Trim
every success in his new venture.
Other speakers included Mr. J. C.
Spears, Sergeant Lake, Lieutenant Staunton,
Mr. J. Lawn, Mr. E. Falkner, Mr.

Mr. Stanley Kingsbury, Miss Betty Brandis
(Women's Auxiliary), Mr. Berks, Mr.
Frank Atkins, and Mr. C. G. Brandis.
On behalf of those present, the Chairman
presented Mr. Trim with a travelling
rug.
Mr. Trim, who was received with
enthusiasm, expressed his warm appreciation
of the gift and of the remarks made by
all the speakers, particularly the representative
of the Womcn's Auxiliary. All he
could say was that he had done the best
he could in the town. His greatest
interest had been in the old and the new
soldiers. He believed in trying to help
the town in which one lived.
