Bomber Unit Wants
Surf Gear
An R.A.A.F. bomber squadron in
the South-west Pacific, which stated
that recently it had six drowning
fatalities on one day. has asked for
surf lifesaving equipment.
A letter from the squadron read
br Merewether Snrf Life-saving Club
delegate to the Association Council
last night stated that the squadron
was camped beside a surf beach sub
ject to tidal waves, dangerous un
dcertows, and lnpredictable shore
holes and channels.
The letter stated that many mem
bers of the squadron were proficient
life-savers. A request was made for
prices of equipment and information
on how equipment comuld be obtained.
The request will be sent to head
auarters in Sydney, with a recom
mendation that the matter be dealt
with promptly.
