Page 1 - PERTH, Friday.—Skilled observers who saw the atomic test to-day have decided, on reasoned consideration, that Britain's new atomic weapon is apparently far more deadly than its American prototypes. Although less spectacular, there was no doubt that tremendous power was unleashed and that the destructive force resulting was spread over a wider area than comparable American bombs. Mr. William Mangini, a Perth research physicist, who watched the explosion from a 300ft. hill 56 miles away, said the colour of the flash—which is a very good indication of the temperature—seemed to be much deeper than recorded at the American explosions. This indicated that the temperature of to-day's blast was lower, but there was no question that tremendous power was unleashed. Delay In Details Of Blast
