YUG~OSLAVIA
PARIS, September 18. A.A.P.-To "show gbodwill
and conciliation," the Yugoslav delegate, Admiral PIIanola,
withdrew a Yugoslav amendment to the Italian draft peace
treaty at a meeting of the Military Commission of the Paris
Conference to-day.
The amendment would have reduced the number of
Italian carabinieri from 65,000 to 30,000.
At a meeting of the Italian
Political and Territorial Com
mission, the Indian delegate
said he would vote against all
amendments and would sup
port the draft peace treaty for
Italy since India did not wish
the peace treaties to be
vengeful.
The Russian delegate (General
Slavin) angrily protested in the
MIilitary Commission, when the Brit
ish delegate (Brigadier Dove) sug
gested that the Albanian delegation
should not be present while tile
minutes of the urcvious meeting were
read.
General Slavin said: "I cannot
understand thie attitude of the British
and American delegates. ]s it their
desire to offend the Albanian people?
What are their motives?"
General Slavin objected to the form
of the minute on the decision to in
vite Albania to attend for a discus
sion of Albanian amendments to the
Italian draft treaty.
He angrily declared that the Sacre
tariat had "taken liberties'' with the
eommissidn's decision.
The Chairman ruled that; the Al
banians could remain and instructed
the Secretariat to reconstruct the
