Big losses for newcomers
Upstarts made a rather inglorious
entry to the ACT women's softball
competition on Saturday when it lost
both games in a double header at
Mawson.
Its first loss was to Panthers, 17-0,
but it improved slightly when it was
beaten 11-1 by Boomerangs.
The match of the day was between
Pant hers and Woden Valley.
Panthers, which made no errors, won
4-2. Panthers scored five safe hits, one
of which was a three-bagger by Jillians
Grubles and Woden Valley had six,
including a home-run over centrefield
by Kirston Fenton.
Queanbeyan beat Warriors 8-3 and
Queanbcyan's Bev Webb featured in
a double play with one down to retire
Warriors for the first innings.
Best for Queanbeyan were Jo
Lcsiputty and Dale West.
