Upper House Appointments
BROKEN HILL, Today.
Opposition to the method of the Lang
Govecrnmrent in making 25 apl>ointments
to the New South Wales Legislative
Council recently was expwussed at a meet
jing cf the Workers' Industrial Union
last night.
After much discussion the following
motion was carrn'icd:-"That this organi
sation protests against the methods em
p)loyed in the appoii1cment of members
to the Upper House on the ground that
Iccal and other assemblies of the Aus
tralian Labor Paraty were not given the
privilege of submittine nominees, or offi
cially notified thlnt nr.natiations had been
cair.d.
"The appointmenct of Mr. XV. E. Tickl
son (manager of the loc:al inion news
laperM) was mentioned durinig the dis
cussibon, but a motion was carried to the
effect thart the union 'mns every con
