Woman's Body in Sack
GRIM FIND:
POLICE
THEORY OF
MURDER
SYDNEY, Tuesday.
The body of an unindenti
fled woman, partly enclosed in
a bag, was found this after
noon in a shrub in a paddock
off Bourke street, Parramatta.
The police believe she was
murdered.
The woman's frock and one stioe
were missing. She appeared to have
been dead for a week.
Until a post-mortem examination is
made the detectives will be unable to
say what killed her.
The body was found by .Francis Gil
bert, an orchardist, whose property ad
joins the paddock in which it was
hidden.
- When found the body was lying face
downwards just inside the rail fence in
a very lonely spot. It was partly hidden
in a shrub. which had been consider
ably disturbed and depressed.
Was Middle-Aged
The head and arms were covered
with a chaff bag, the lower half of a
short blue coat, with large white spots,
was showing outside the bag.
There was no sign of a skirt or a
frock. The woman wore an underslip
of pinkish color and pink corselettes.
The body appeared to be that of a
woman about 12 stone in weight.
Although they did not make a close
examination on the spot. the police be
lieve that she was approaching middle
age.
Gilbert, after finding the body, at
once notified the Parramatta police.
It was decided not to disturb the body
until fingerprint and photographic ex
perts had been sent out.
