Tasmanian Rights
. Tasmania, according to a circular sent
out by the 'T'asmianian Rights League, is
"spreadeagled with a huge and ]heavy
Commonwealth sitting on the small of its
back, and tlhere is the cr." front the
mainland. 'Now thilen, Tasmnania, you lazy
beggar, why don't you get up and helL
yourself?' The C'ommonwealthl should get
up first and thei we might have a
chance."
The league has s~t out to reach the fol
lowing objectives
Recognition by the Parliamene t of the
Commonwealth of the obligation of the
Commonwealth to secure financial stability
for the small States so as to secure equit
able treatment to those States.
To obtain such amendment of the Coin
mionwealth Albitration Law ;s will pro
vide for quicker ldeceisions. and at a more
economical cost to the parties concerned,
with the assurance of proper observance
of the awards of the court.
Maintenance of ai adequate and con
tinuous ferry service between Tasmania
and the mainland as the responsibility of
the Government of the ('Commonwealth.
The amendment of the Navigation Act
