Mr. Lloyd George is so much associated
in the mind of the public with the Welsh
hills that it must have come as a surprise
to. many when he described himself in a
recent bpeech as a Lancashire man. Yet
he was born in Manchester, and his -first
acquaintance with the phenomenon of sun
rise was made in that highly carbonised
area

of' Churcher street, Thorngate,- has left
e$tate. the gross value of which in. South
Australia is sworn not to exceed £6,835.

and Mr. J. McLachlan, M.P., ad
dressed a gathering in Brownlow Public
School 'this afternoon. This evening
they will attend a social and dance m
Eudunda Justitute, and- will deliver ad
dresses. The gatherings were arranged
by 'the Liberial Federation. On Friday
evening, the Premier and Mr. H. B.
Crodsby, M.P., will speak at a social and
dance in Long Plains Memorial Hall.
Mr. E. J~. Vincent (president of the Tin
tinara district of the National Roads Asso
ciation) and Mr. V. B. Madden (manager
of the Vacuum' Oil Company, Proprietary
Limited) were entertained at luncheon by
the National . Roads Association at the
clubrooms of the Commerciml Travellers
and 'Warehousemen's Association. Those
present - were Mr. T. Kean (presi
dent of the Commercial Travellers and
Warehousemen's Association and a mem
ber of the executive of the National Roads
Association) Cr. Charles :W. Lloyd, and
Messrs. H. C.. H. Denton, E. G. Heal, and
J. L. Campbell (secretary).
Mr. George Hall, who died at his resi
dence at Redbanks, near Gawler, was
one of the best-known farmers of the
Lower. North. Of a genial and kindly
disposition, he was ever ready to assist
any- piblic cause, and was respected
by. .a large number of friends. Mr.
Hall, who was 66 yeai-s of age, was born
at Redbanks, and was the son of the late
Mr.. 'James hall, .one of the pioneers, of
the State. ' He -farmed near his old home.

Messrs. James and John Hall, of St.. Wil
fred's, Redbanks.. and Francis Hall. of
St.' Joseih's.- Redbanks, are brothers. The
funeral at the Pinkerton Plains Cemetery
was largely attended. - .
