(Special to "The:News' ')
VANCOUVER, October 6.
.A .message from Nogales- (Arizona) states that Gen. Vincente:
Gonzales, chief" artillery officer in Morelos. State, and 13 members:
of the State Legislature have been excuted for rebellion.
Another report states that Gen. Alfredo. Quinanjo has been
:also shot.
A report from Mexico City -states that
when some journalists disbelieved the re
port that Gen. Gomez (chief insurrection
leader) had been executed President.Calles
announced that there would be no ques
tion whatever concerning the next execu
tion.
This accordingly was held this morning,
when Gen. Alfredo Quinanjo faced a fhiing
squad, with many officia]s and 10 news
papermen present by invitation.
For the moment the Mexican -revolution
appears to have, been quelled, with the
two leading opposition- candidates for next
presidential election effectively removed
by bullets.
Through several provinces there are signs
of rebellion breaking out sporadically, but
thlie Government is so prompt and severe
in meting out punishment that nothing
short of. a conflagration throughout .the
whole country would have any effect.
