PORT CHURCH CRICKET
Successful Season Recorded
At the ninth annual meeting of the
Port Adelaide and Suburban Church
Cricket Association. Mr. S. R. Smith
(secretary) read the report.
He said that a success.Ful season hlad
again been experienced. Regret was ex
pressed at thle loss from the association of
St. Mary's and Semaphore Church United
Clubs. Mr. A. W. Gordon (president)
was thanked for the work he had done,
and for a gold medal he had presented for
the bowler with the largest number of
wickets for the season. Mr. C. Otheln
(chairman) was thankful for the gift of a
medal, anld Messrs. M. H. Lowe, P. J.
Martin, W. L. Rofe, and C. II. Dicker
for financial assistance.
The premiership silver cup was won by
Glanville Methodist Club, with Port Catho
lic Club runners-up.
Glanville Methodist, with 120 wickets,
3,316 runs, average 28.63, secured the
best club average, and the greatest number
of runs.
Best team score was also annexed by
Glanville Mcethodist-352 ,or six wicketis
against Rcsatala Church United.
A. Bilsborrow, of Glanville Methodist
Club, gainedl the batting average with 11
completed innings, two not out, highest
score 109 not out, runs 406, average 36.90.
With 556 runs, J. Ilayman won the
batting aggregate.
N. Fraser (Rosatala) made the highest
individual score in the association-130
against Queenstown.
Centuries were made by the following
players:-N, Fraser, 130, 126; G. Bilsbor
row, 121 not out; A. Bilsborrow, 109 not
out; J. Robertson, 101 not out, A. Carr,
101; and A. McFarlnne, 100.
H. Smith (Glanville Methodist) gained
the bowling average. His figures were 24
wickets, 166 runs, average 6.91.
Highest aggregate of wickets fell to the
bowling of L. C. Dayman, who took 85
wickets. The same bowler secured 10
wickets for 10 runs in one innings against
Queenstown on January 7.
C. Maywald took the largest number bo
catches, 13.
Inter-association matches against River
side Association and United Church As
sociation were both won.
At the conclusion of the season Glan
ville Methodist (premiers) defeated a com
hined association team.
