FOOTBALL BREAKAWAY
VICTORIAN LEAGUE PROPOSAL
Game. in Other States
PERITH'. Today.
A report that the Victorian Football
League will consider a motion to break
away from the Australian Football Coun
cil was brought to the notice of MIr. A.
A. Mioffat (president .of that body, also
president of the Western Australian
Football League) this morning.
Mr. MIoffat said that he preferred not
to comment on the matter. But he con
fessed to surprise that the proposal
should have come forward, especially in
view of the fact that the Victorian league
was actually responsible for bringing the
council into existence. the expressed ob
ject being the "promotion and ndvance
ment of-the Australian game of football."
"Contributions from vartious State bbdies
are expended on propagating the game in
New South Wales, Quenesland. and .the
Federal Capital. territory." Ir. . Moffat
continued,- "and this is tlie only object
of levics; Contributions are ou equitable
lines and fixed on a percentag cbasis."
